FIRST DROP WINES MERE ET FILS CHARDONNAY 2010

First Drop Wines is pretty new to me, but so far so good. I like what they’re doing. The bottle came with a shower cap.

Mum’s had a bit of work done, but she’s looking good – wild sulphide, spicy oak, almond and bran, lemon rind and nectarine – no shortage of complexity and just shy of the kitchen sink going in. But for all that, it’s not over-wrought, and the flavours flow evenly and softly with just enough shape and focus to keep it on the straight and narrow. Savoury and spicy on the finish with lime flavours coming through. Abundant character here. Really liked it.
