First Drop Minchia Montepulciano 2009
Posted on 31 July 2012.
Love this wine. So much so that shortly after tasting it, I put finger to keyboard.
New black leather, toasted almond, licorice, briar, blackberry and plum – dark and sexy. It’s ripe and fleshy, with a flood of fine grained tannin, flavours of blood plum and almond studded dark chocolate and an attractive finish of creamy oak with a whip of dried herb bitterness. Acidity sits comfortably within the folds of the fruit, though it’s not a fruity wine at all, yet certainly it’s a full and plump one. So charismatic and good to drink. X-Factor plus. Smell the glove. Drink the wine.
